  2. Hub-Based Local Execution: Systems like Home AssistantHubitat, or SmartThings (with certain hubs) can process automation logic locally. Schedules, scenes, and even complex "if-then" rules run on the hub in your home. The internet outage only disables remote access, not local automation.

  3. Device-Level Autonomy: The highest level of reliability is achieved when the curtain motor itself can execute pre-programmed commands without any hub. For example, a built-in real-time clock (RTC) can execute open/close schedules directly on the motor. A hardwired wall switch connected directly to the motor provides 100% reliable physical control.

The most robust systems implement a hybrid approach: Device-level autonomy for core functions (schedules, wall switches) combined with a local-processing hub for complex scenes and remote access as a convenience.
